Just wondered how completely out of the ordinary i am !
dd1 (14) dd2 (11 ) did the same as now ds1 ( 3 yrs ) and i gat so many shocked faces.
Ds1 still has 3 hours sleep every afternoon.
If he misses his sleep he is unbearble gets overtired AND then wont sleep well overnight.
As long as he has his nap he then sleeps well from usually about 8pm until 8 am.
Everyone thinks i`m so lucky, but dont see the absolute bind it is also.
My whole day always has to fit around his nap !
I dont have a problem with this because i dont think it would be fair to make him stay awake when it obviously works. Its just that noone else i know with similar age children still put them down in the daytime.
Sometimes i wonder if he is missing out because hes always asleep !

Ahah! Not just us then...
Our dd still naps - 1-2hours every afternoon. if I try to keep her going during the dayshe is just horrible. She goes to sleep a bit later in the evening but sleeps til about 8 the next morning. With a nap she is a happy and sunny child, without it the cumulative effect means that we live with a monster!

my 4 yr old dd1 occasionally has an afternoon nap

she gets up very early and is very active

she can have 2hrs, she usually crashes out on the couch, doesnt affect her nighttime routine much

she does it maybe twice a week

My ds was big strong lad and still napped up to an hour before going to school.
DD is 4 and still naps every 2nd afternoon. Think she is sept 07 school entry so she will outgrow her nap I think by than and she is weeny!
