What's your 2 year old's sleep like?

My guy is 23 months. He always goes to sleep no bother anything from 7.15-7.45. We have an almost identical routine each night.
But then...the dawn breaks ans he is up with the birds. Without fail. This has been going on since he stopped waking for night feeds (and I thought it was heaven that he slept until then). Now we all need more sleep. He is generally cranky when he gets up so I know he should probably sleep longer.
He does one nap, going down at anytime from 11.30 until 12.30 and sleeping for 90mins to 2 hours. Is this nap too long?

Black out blinds...Yes
Heating coming on & waking him etc...No
Hunger...Don't think so, eats a big dinner around 6pm and drinks a beaker of milk at 7.15pm.
Tried 'wake to sleep' for 6nights in a row and then collapsed in a heap of failure..
Have a gro clock, he doesn't give a sh1t.
Only thing we haven't tried is constantly laying him back down to sleep when he does wake. Am guessing that will need to be our next step and could take weeks.

Any tips or opinion on routine welcome. Thanks for reading.

What time is he waking? Are you uk? I only ask because the break of dawn is about 6.45 here at the moment which isn't that early for a toddler?

My 26 month old goes to sleep around 8pm and wakes around 6:30am. She has a 45 minute nap.
