My neice can't sleep because she sees monsters

Can anyone help me with suggestions?

My two year old neice is having difficulties sleeping through. Every night she cries and repeatedly needs to be settled by mum and dad because she says she sees monsters in her room.

My sister and her husband have tried several different methods to deal with the problem, including the 'rapid return' technique and and night light and even 'monster spray' to ward them off, but all to no effect.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Would a torch help? If she thinks she can see them she can shine her torch at them to make them go away?
My DS is currently telling us there are monsters in his room, but now he has his torch it's not so bad.

A dream catcher, it does not allow bad dreams into her room, or monsters for that matter.

Ooh, ooh, ooh, yes! I posted about this the other day.

I now tell DS1 a story (he was complaining of monsters in the bed).

It goes something like this:

"DS1 had a Bear who he loved very much and Bear loved him too. They went everywhere together. One day, DS1 couldn't find Bear. So he and Mummy looked for him everywhere. They looked under the sofa, on top of the wardrobe and in all the drawers. But they couldn't find him anywhere.

Suddenly DS1 had a bright idea. He dashed into his bedroom and looked under the bed. Sure enough, there was Bear. He had been making sure there were no monsters under the bed.

Monsters are scared of Bears. So as long as you have Bear in bed with you, there won't be any monsters."

Then DS1 gives Bear a kiss, makes Bear kiss me and goes to sleep happily.
