help please - ds is 4.5 months old now. He's had a sore throat/cough and a nappy rash for a week now (both getting much better) and has turned from a reasonable sleeper (down at 7, up once or twice for a feed until properly up at 6:30) into a real pain. He's literally up every two hours throughout the night - and not just for a quick feed, either, but a one hour suckle-fest!
He's fully breast-fed and sleeps in his own cot next to our bed, though lately he's been sleeping with me as it's just too knackering to get up all the time. He's good at going to sleep on his own and will happily lie awake in his cot for a while before dozing off, so it's not like he can't settle himself. He's no great daytime sleeper, a few cat naps (less than 30 minutes) here and there and that's it and feeds very frequently during the day still. I don't really know what to do - he's been much more demanding that normal recently and it's very difficult considering I've also got a 4yr old dd and a 3yr old.

My dd did that at the same age. Have heard of other babes doing this at the same age.
After afew frazzled nites I decided which times I would feed her and the other times I did comforting with out the breast. I used techniques she already knew.
Now she only wakes twice in the nite. We have the same system as u - sleeps next to us or in bed with us.

My peditrician said u have to teach them that waking up is not desirable while not desserting them. Let them know u are there... but that night is for sleep and not snacking!
I feel we both learnt alot from this and she is a better night sleeper AND day time sleeper now as I can get her to go back to sleep if she wakes up without a bf.
Good luck
