Baby asleep whenever I need to go out - should I wake him?

I have an 8 month old who is quite a regular routine now, and sleeps for an hour and a half mid morning, then about 2 hours after lunch. He has never been the sort of baby who would go to sleep on me, (apart from the early days) and always likes to be in his cot. And although he does sleep in his pram he does not sleep as well and is easily woken. The problem is, I have been missing quite a few baby group meet ups because it doesn't feel right to wake him, and he is very very grumpy if tired and his routine is interrupted, so it doesn't seem worth it. I've missed yet another class this morning, as he looks so cosy and peaceful right now I feel I would be mad to disturb him! And our weekly antenatal group meet up is this afternoon and it couldn't be at a worse time in terms of his sleep routine so feels a bit cruel to trek on the bus with him whinging all afternoon. I wondered if anyone had any advice? Thank you!

I used to walk everywhere when DS was young so if I wanted to be at a 11am group and he slept from 9.30-11.30 for example, I would leave the house at 9.15 so he'd fall asleep at the usual time in the buggy.

Ds is a bit like this only he doesn't nap for as long. I generally let him sleep as he gets really grouchy and overtired. I try to be at home for his naps.....roll on the days when he only needs one nap!

I do take 1-2 days a week 'off' the routine and have him out and about for his naps. Its a balance between being housebound with a mostly cheerful baby or getting out with a potentially grizzly baby.
