Can't bring myself to move DD into her own room

DD is 16 weeks and has now pretty much outgrown her Moses basket. Her cot is assembled in the nursery and is too large and heavy to move into our room and DP thinks she is ready to move into her own room so won't agree to buy a smaller crib that she will only use for a couple of months. I do agree with him but I just can't bring myself to make the transition. Everything is ready for her, we have a video monitor and she sleeps 21:00-06:30hrs most nights. Please reassure me that she will be ok...

It's safer to have her in with you until 6 months.

SIDS guidelines say baby should be in the parents room until 6 months so you have a while yet!

We had a travel cot we put dd in in that period between outgrowing the basket and being old enough to go into her room.

We had the cheapest ikea cot in our room when we needed that stopgap. It also doubled as a handy holding pen. Would this work? Or would the mattresses not fit? I'd feel weird about moving a baby at four months, but I think plenty of people do it - bedrooms often aren't very big.

We used a travel cot for the In between phase. It's ideal and you have it for holidays/visitors then.

Good gracious no. I misread that as 16 months at first!

SIDS guidelines say 6 months for a good reason. They regulate their breathing by being in the same room as yours...

Are you sure you can't assemble her cot right next to your bed?

Think I remember you from the ante natal thread

We had the same problem. We (well husband) had to dismantle cot and put it in our room. We had to move some furniture around but it's. It forever. Must admit people keep asking me when she is going to her own room. I think she would be fine and people do it. But it's he whole SIDS thing, don't think I could live with myself if something happened.

Hi bad hope you're doing ok

Thank you for the advice everyone! I'm going to follow my heart and keep her where she belongs... next to me. We have a sleigh cot bed that took 3hrs to put together and 4 (big built) men to lift it into position so moving it into our room just isn't an option. However by chance, I was speaking to my neighbour earlier (they have an 11 month old DD) who mentioned that they have a mini crib that they no longer need. They've offered it to us for £30 and I will buy a new mattress.
