13 week old sleeping for 11 hours.. worried about dropped feed

Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting here, I am hoping to get some advice from some of the other parents on this board.

I am a first time mum to my little boy who is 13 weeks old. We have established a strong bedtime routine where he goes in the bath at 6pm, has a good feed (he is ebf) and is usually fast asleep by 6.30, 7pm at the latest. We would then wake him at about 10ish to give him a dream feed, and he was then waking at about 3.30 to 4am for a feed. Sometimes he will go back to sleep after that, sometimes he won't!

Last night my husband and I decided not to wake him at 10pm for the dream feed and to see what would happen. He slept right through until 5am! When he woke I gave him a good feed. He didn't go back to sleep afterwards.

My question is, is it a problem that he is dropping the 10pm feed and not then feeding until 5am the following morning? Will he drop weight because of this? Is he sleeping for too long without a feed?! We are trying to be led by him, but I can't help worrying. Oh I should add that he was 14lb 10oz when he was weighed 3 weeks ago, I suspect he is now over 15lb.

Apologies for the very long post, thanks for reading!

Sounds absoutley fine to me! DD dropped her 3am feed (so going 11pm to 6am) at eight weeks, and about 14 weeks we stopped waking her at 11pm

Enjoy it!

It's fine. But shhh, don't tell other mums, they'll hate you Wink

Without a doubt enjoy it! They may well have a sleep regression at anytime!

Thanks for your replies! I know, I don't want to rub it in for anyone else as he has only done it once and I have spent many a night crying at the side of his cot when he is lying there wide awake! He appears to have started teething so I am braced for this to be a short lived thing...

Hi. My LO dropped her 10am feed when she was about 8 weeks then dropped her 3/4am feed around 3 weeks ago. I was worried as she is also feeding around 730 then not feeding until around 8am. My HV said it's fine. She's gaining weight and weeing lots which is a sign they are getting everything they need.
She only has 4 7/8 oz bottles a day now which us strange as she was having 6 not long ago.
When she's had a growth spurt she has picked up that 3/4am feed but that's it.
As long as they are gaining weight and lots of wet nappies then I guess we are some of the lucky ones!

It's fine. He's obviously getting enough milk during the day.
As a word of warning, both mine slept really well from about 12-16weeks but that was it. Hopefully you won't have the same experience but forewarned is forearmed right?

You also might want to consider keeping the 10pm feed if it means you get a bit more of a lie in to maximise sleep.
