Bedtime for 2yo and 3mo - tell me your routine please?

Hi

We have been very lucky and have a 2yo daughter who is good about going to bed. OH baths her at 7 and gets her into pjs and then I read stories and lights out at 7.30. She usually goes straight to sleep.

My 12week old son has no routine yet but recently has begun to fall sleep downstairs with us about 9 until we go up at 10.30ish. I usually change his nappy at this point and feed him. He then sleeps til 4ish and then back down until DD wakes him up at 6.30am.

I would like to start a more solid routine for him soon so we can have child free evenings back. Any ideas how to integrate this with DDS routine? He is BF and can self settle to sleep.

Sorry that should say

He can sometimes self settle to sleep I.e. Sometimes a bit of shushing and stroking bridge of his nose until his eyes start to droop, other times he just drops off by himself beside me on the sofa while I MN or watch TV.

I have DD 2.1 and DS 18 weeks.

DD has a bath at 6:30 then into pj's. She then has a book and we sing a song and have a cuddle. Into the cot about 7ish, and she gets herself to sleep with no problem.

DH will stay with DS while I'm putting DD to bed. I then go get DS, change his nappy, into sleepsuit etc then take him into our room where I BF him until he passes out Wink sometimes he will wake up while feeding and not want to feed anymore so I cuddle/sssh pat him to sleep.

I only bath him once a week and usually do this on a Saturday or Sunday about 5:30ish.

Should add that he's usually asleep for the night by 8:30ish and was going until 5ish, sometimes 6. He's started waking twice a night for feeds now though. Not enjoying that but 4 month growth spurt/development phase has started!

Thanks Squishy, I think it was bath time which was stumping me. At eh moment we only bath him when we feel like its been a while and have been doing it during DDS bath so I think I was trying to include bathing together in his routine but I suppose that can come later when he's ready to go to bed at the same time as her.

Urgh to waking twice a night - it's a nightmare when they take a 'step back' because you got a taste for the better way and then they snatch it away.

Hey, DD1 is 2.11 and DD2 is 5 months. I bath them together using one of those bath seat things for DD2 then into DD1's room and feed DD2 whilst reading DD1 some stories. Then I tuck DD1 in and tell her I'll be back to check her/sing a song once I've put DD2 down. Then into our room and settle DD2. This still takes bloody ages some nights, so often DD1 is asleep by the time I go back.

I couldn't imagine how it was going to work before I did it but you soon get into your stride.

I'm not even entertaining the idea of bathing him more regularly until weaning and he actually gets dirty! And TBH his skin is 10x better than DD's at this age and I bathed her every night.

When he's able to sit I'll pop them in together with one of those bath seat things and then dry/dress him in bathroom while DD plays/splashes about.
