Hi ladies,

I have a five week old, who wakes every two hours for milk. I know she is still quite young to be sleepin through but just wondered what age I can expect a longer stretch of sleep! I am exhausted! She also is very hard to get back in her Moses basket after the 4 am bottle but will happily go back asleep on my or in our bed within seconds!

Thanks for any advice x

34 months..that's not very helpful is it!!!

PurplePunkPrincess · 22/06/2014 18:52

12 weeks for my formula fed baby and 8 months for my breastfed baby (which sadly I have to admit was the exact time I stopped bfing)

With ds3 who is 3 weeks he goes every 3 hours but takes a good hour to feed and settle. I gave him 3oz of formula the other night he took it well, settled really well and I got 4 hours sleep as opposed to 2! Didn't do it last night and he went 3 hours. I'm going to slowly introduce formula as a 'last' feed. I have school run and need sleep!

Does she feed from each side every feed? If not, offer her the other side even if she has fallen asleep on the boob which may help fill her up for longer! :) x

14 weeks for dd1 (ff from 8 weeks) and 9 months for dd2 (ff from, umm 9 months).

RigglinJigglin · 22/06/2014 18:59

14months and still not sleeping through.

notadoctor · 22/06/2014 19:01

My eldest is 2.5yo and still doesn't consistently sleep through... I think her 12wk old baby brother might beat her too it!

Sweetmotherfudger · 22/06/2014 19:01

7 months. Went from 10 wake ups a night to 0 in a week! The earliest I personally know of friends babies is 4 months. Good luck! The first few m

Sweetmotherfudger · 22/06/2014 19:02

(Contined) months are so hard and then you look back nostalgically (in a non sleep deprived way!)

MrGeresHamster · 22/06/2014 19:07

8 weeks was the first sleep through, DS was breast fed. Consistently slept through by about four/five months. We have been lucky and I don't generally admit his sleeping with 'mummy' friends as it always seemed to be a bit competitive as to how little sleep you'd had.

13Stitches · 22/06/2014 19:08

Somewhere close to 2yrs. He'd wake up, and is fb back to sleep. We got really good at it being quick and snoozy.

That is, after the early days (weeks? Months?) where he'd poo every time and we got in a feed-sleep-poo-change-wake-feed-sleep-poo cycle.

If we ever have a second - I'm having a sidecar cot so I don't even have to get upright (and the bit about them being happy to sleep in your bed, but not their own)

ChocolateWombat · 22/06/2014 19:08

Slept 7 to 11. Feed. Then 11.30-7 at 14 weeks. Coincided with stopping BF.
Slept 7 to 7 at 5.5 months - coincided with weaning.

Rubberstamp · 22/06/2014 19:10

From 4 months when I moved her to her room and cot. She's now 6 months and since 4 months sleeps 7-7. That said, this is luck as my 5 yr old didn't really sleep through until 9-10 months.

Northumberlandlass · 22/06/2014 19:10

If my memory serves me right, at 18 months I got 4 consecutive hours!

PurplePidjin · 22/06/2014 19:13

Depends on how you define a sleep through. My ebf baby was doing 6-7 hours by about 3 months, however it wasn't till he hit proper walking at 14 months that he slept from 6-6 regularly...

StinkyWhizzleteats · 22/06/2014 19:14

DD slept through at 8 weeks.

DS is 5 months old and doesn't need feeding at night anymore, although he sometimes wakes up when it gets light (4.30am at the moment)! and needs resettling with a dummy.

Both breastfed.

PeachTrees · 22/06/2014 19:15

8 weeks, formula fed. dd is nearly 10 months and still sleeps through consistently. im aware I'm lucky

Trooperslane · 22/06/2014 19:17

12 weeks. Mix fed.

Afaik sleeping through is defined as a 5? hour stretch, so not e.g. 12 hours.

purplemurple1 · 22/06/2014 19:17

From 2 weeks he had bottles at 11pm, 2am and 5 am (all on demand) at exactly 2 months he didn't wake at 2am and didn't take that bottle again. I think the 11pm dropped at around 4 months.

Chachah · 22/06/2014 19:17

4.5 months. EBF. Coincided with the moment we stopped co-sleeping and she got her own cot and her own bedroom (within one week of the cot).

LairyPoppins · 22/06/2014 19:19

Dt1 (bf) 2 months
DT2 (bf) 8 months

Slavetominidictator · 22/06/2014 19:20

22 months slept through for the first time. Now 25 months and wakes up from time to time but goes straight back. I, however, am left lying awake.....

katemeister · 22/06/2014 19:30

From about 5.5 months when she moved into her own room (8pm - 5.30-6ish), she is ebf,

SpottyTeacakes · 22/06/2014 19:32

Dd ff slept twelve hours a night by 12 weeks.

Ds bf slept twelve hours a night by eight months, fed hourly prior to that.

CPtart · 22/06/2014 19:34

DS1 3 months
DS2 4 months
Both ff by this stage.

Shahsham · 22/06/2014 19:45

DS1 only slept more than 2 hours in a row from age 2 years. Now at 2.8 he can sleep 8 hours straight but only 2-3 times a week.

DS2 is 7 weeks and already does 4/5 hours straight followed by 3 hours (then its a bit more complicated)

DH and I are nearly in tears of relief to have a baby who sleeps!

Bootoyou2 · 22/06/2014 19:49

2.5yrs and still waiting!
