DS1 is 4yo and has always been a bad sleeper. At the moment he falls asleep by himself, but frequently needs me or DH in the room as he is terrified of nightmares, so he fights sleep (he is clearly afraid of falling asleep).
He moves and jerks all night. Sometimes he screams, without waking up. He has bags under his eyes in the morning, looks tired by the afternoon, used to have meltdowns and still gets very agitated when he is too tired.
He goes to bed between 7pm and 8pm and sleeps for 10 or 11 hours.
He's had a sleep study that ruled out sleep apnea, and the ENT ruled out other obstructions. I've given him iron and magnesium supplements, but it didn't make any difference. He was checked for tongue tie as well.
He has a good "sleep hygiene" - and anyway, he is not waking up, so it's not a matter of sleep training. He does sleep, but it looks like his sleep is poor quality.
I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? Has anyone had a similar problem?
Does anyone know a good pediatrician specialised in sleep based in London?
