9 month old has gone from contented blissful baby to screaming nightmare

Please help. I go back to work tomorrow. DS2 (9 months today) has had 2 short settling in sessions at CM last week which came after a week with DP when I covered at work.

Prior to this he was the most contented baby ever. Put him in his cot and he would drift off for naps and bedtime. Now he's just screaming. I've tried everything I can think of.

I know he's probably a bit unsettled but nothing works. I have a hideous migraine, I can't stop him screaming.

I've tried rocking him, putting him in bed with me, patting him, rubbing his face with a muslin etc.
I can't bath him as he had a bath this morning (hideous eczema and bad flare up due to heat). He looks like he's got heat rash everywhere as well. He's had a bit of calpol but is currently crawling all over DP shouting hi dadada

Are you sure it's just heat rash? Is there a chance he might have picked up a virus from another child at the CM and actually be feeling a bit rubbish?

When did the screaming start?
You sound like you are stressed about work and attributing it to that, but could there be another explanation - like that the heat rash/eczema is making him uncomfortable in this heat?

About 5 days ago the not settling in his cot and crying constantly started. He's fine when he's up. It's if I lay him down in his cot or cuddle him trying to get him to sleep he kicks off.
