After having a baby that hardly slept for the first 4 months (like 5 hours in total in every 24 instead of the normal 14) we have slogged our way towards good naps during the day.
I thought once there were good naps, better nights would follow... Sleep begets sleep, etc. now we have a 6mo who has been sleeping textbook naps for a week (9-9.30, 12-2 and 4.30-5) but the nights are getting WORSE! He doesn't want feeding at night anymore, but wants dummy replaced, and we're talking 1-2 wake-ups per hour this week. Worse than the once-per-hour until recently.
Anybody else recognise this phenomenon? It is beyond awful to finally nail those naps after lots of work and find yourself worse off at night when you expected some improvement (yes, I know, the dreaded expectation thing!).
Any words of advice? Should I curtail his naps in duration? Is he getting too much sleep in the day now? Weirdly he does't wake for the dummy during the daytime naps. Frustrating!
