This is getting ridiculous .. healthy 2.3 year old goes for afternoon nap at 12.30 and has to be woken up

at 4.30 or 5pm

still goes to sleep at 7.30pm till 7.30 or 8

so basically is awake for 8 hours a day .. bright, articulate, happy

99% of me knows I'm lucky .. 1% listened to mother and wonders if something is wrong

My dd started taking a nap at this age! - just when others where stopping.

tribpot · 04/09/2006 12:22

Some of my nephews are champion sleepers, even at 3 or 4 one can sleep for 3 hours of an afternoon! (Trying to work out if his mum would notice if I switched him for my ds).

Imagine what he'll be like as a teenager, you'll probably have to wake him to feed him once a day!

LucyJones · 04/09/2006 12:24

My ds has a 3 hour nap in the afternoon sometimes (not everyday though). But last night after being put to bed he kept getting up again until 9pm. I think the nap may have had something to do with it

growth spurt!!!!!!!!!
and look how much energy they burn when awake.it's fine-don't worry.

Twiglett · 04/09/2006 12:25

this particular growth spurt has been going for about 3 months

still its nice to be reassured

my mother is a witch and has implanted her voice and comments at the back of my head where I can't quite reach it with a carving knife ...

well if there is something wrong with yours then there is with mine.he is 3 and has to sleep for about 2/3 hours of an afternoon otherwise he falls asleep where he is standing/sitting at about 5.30pm-just as i'm thinking of dinner.

my 23 mo will have a 4 hour sleep marathon 2-3 times per week and have to be woken.

its brilliant

quokka · 04/09/2006 12:33

I don't get it whats wrong with that? My ds1 is the same age and I have to wake him up after 2.5hrs. I expect ds2 to be exactly the same! Most people would love to be in your position, your lucky

Nemo1977 · 04/09/2006 12:35

agree forget mother and enjoy..my ds has given up his naps just when dd arrived[[arghhh] even though he still really needs it he blatantly refuses to. Has to go to bed at 7pm and is restless of a night too..jus thoping playschool will make him tired.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 04/09/2006 12:37

Twiglett - DS2 (who'll be 3 at the end of November!) still goes for an afternoon nap at 1pm - sometimes wakes up of his own accord around 3ish (usually if he's filled his nappy LOL) otherwise I've woken him as late as 5pm (when I'm being lazy).

He goes to bed at 8pm and gets up about 7.30 (sometimes a bit later). ENJOY!

DS1 stopped his naps on his own (just wouldn't sleep) at 18 months

Twiglett · 04/09/2006 12:50

yeah DS wouldn't do afternoons as soon as he hit 2 so this is all new to me .. fabulous but new

my mother is a witch I tell ya
