A couple of Qs

Hiya

Couple of sleep related Qs/advice pleas! Dd is 5months old.

  1. Daytime naps. I put her in her cot for daytime naps. She cries. Everytime, regardless of if I leave her, stay, pat, shush etc. does this matter? She does fall asleep eventually, sometimes quick other tines not. Will she grow out of it?
  1. Nighttime sleeping. Pattern is 10pm-9am (ish) with a feed early morning. I can't get her down earlier whatever I try. She feeds very frequently in the evening. Last nap always over by 6, sometime earlier, just won't sleep in the evening at all. Can't move bedtime earlier by moving last feed earlier as she just feeds on demand til she stops and sleeps... Any advice??

Could you start getting her up earlier and shift whole routine back so she's eventually sleeping more like 7pm - 7am? Could start by getting her up at 8.30am one day, 8.00am the next. Naps will need to get earlier, so last nap should be done by 4pm eventually and bedtime will become earlier.

Hiya

Thanks for suggestions :-)
Issue is the times she has woken earlier (7 or 8 am) and I've got her up, dressed, fed etc, she wants a nap an hour or so later and then sleeps for 90mins/2hrs which I think she is thinking is the rest of her "night"! So she is up even later in the morning.. Then she is awake all the next evening even if I try and get her down at 7/8pm..

Although my DS is a little younger at 3.5mo he always has a short nap before 9am and our getting up time is 7am. Sometimes it can be as early as 8:15.

He has his last nap (if he needs it) at 4-5ish and then I do a feed at 5 and again at 6:30 after bath. He goes down very well at 7pm. He can get through to 1am and will wake again around 4am for bf.

Early on I didn't realise that this morning nap would come so early but it just seems to be what he needs.

I gave up trying to get him to nap in cot (must think about trying again though...!) and he just sleeps nestled into his feeding cushion on the sofa next to me. I can watch some telly or mumsnet or grab some breakfast if I haven't managed it yet. He is so grumpy and difficult to entertain if he doesn't nap that it was better for us for him to sleep and we will work on where that is over time!
