Or you wake up at the times they used to wake up. I also wake up convinced that he's crying when he is actually sound asleep.

Totally with you. I wake when he usually wakes, and thus is with a 20 month old who often spends half the night in bed with us. Sometimes if I wake in the night I can't get back to sleep because ds is not their Sad

Frustrating isn't it? Luckily DS has now returned to his usual 2 - 4 wake ups per night so am back to normal state of sleep deprivation Grin

I know what you mean. DS1 is 2.7 and doesnt reliably sleep through. Sunday night he slept like a log, no nightmares, no sleeptalking, no waking up...I was awake all night with contractions!!! (Tho I was actually pleased no to have to deal with DS at the same time!)
