advise on 2YO going from Cot to Bed

She has started to straddle the top of her cot the last 2 days when she wants to get up so I think it may be time - expecting an unsettled 2/3 weeks to begin with due to the freedom! any advice welcome - gro clock, baby gate on her door etc etc - although she could probably scale that too!

we just moved my 2.3yo to a bed last weekend... we had good night/bad night and now in the past 3 days she says she wants her cot and not the bed...

we comprimised to put her in the sleeping bag on the bed and have had 8h30 to 6am (5am today but got her back down till 7) so not too bad...

we try and big up the big girl's bed and say how great it is...
why baby gate on the door? if she wakes she comes to get me and i take her back to bed... rather than than be woken by her screaming out for me...

yes, I was thinking that about the gate on the door - i mean she needs to get used to staying in there of her own free will (with some encouragement) doesn't she rather than being hemmed in!

yes - will big up the 'big girls bed' as we have with big girls pants - will search for a good book on it for her like we had the 'Pollys potty' book!

thanks for your feedback.....x

I couldn't do gate on the door because of the way the doors work anyway...

But I just mention it as I know she would shout and shout...

we leave her door open about one inch and same with our door... that way when she comes in to get me i can tell first by the door opening, not just her trying to climb in with me Grin

we also have a groclock, but she does understand sunshine and stars but still not enough to stay in until the sunshine...

I just think she is only 2.3yo, so young... so I might cope with disturbed sleep for a wee bit longer...

maybe also involve her and ask if she wants duvet or sleeping bag...

i also put cushions on the floor on the side of the bed - she has only fallen off twice but one of the times continued sleeping comfortably on the floor pillows...

good luck

My daughter at 17 months loved her bed and never wandered about (just called out when she wanted us) So you may be surprised. Do put cushions on the floor as tinytear suggests - we also had a few tumbles. best wishes
