like Nytol etc or are they a waste of money?? Once I'm asleep is OK but cant get to sleep at the moment. I've got lots of stuff going on at the moment - change of childminder and change of job/lifestyle all coming up in the next month plus DS starting school so just find myself lying there at night thinking about it all. Now it is becoming a self-fulfiling prophecy. I've tried all the lavender bath etc just wondered if anyone has tried them etc

TIA

Hi there, sucks when you can't nod off, but I wouln't really start using remedies like that just yet. You obviously have a lot on your mind so this would be my suggestion:
Before bed

  1. Write down all the things that are bothering you, tell yourself to worry about it in the morning.
  2. Do something that relaxes you, like a quiet walk, nice music etc
  3. Avoid alcohol sugar and caffeine in the evening
  4. Try taking a few really deep breaths before you get into bed and once you are there, tense every muscle in your body and then gradually relax every muscle. Really concentrate on each part of your body.
  5. Also a nice glass of warm milk can really help (or cold if you don't like it warm).
  6. Keep your bedroom free of clutter and make it somewhere you really want to be. Hope these little tips give you some relief, sweet dreams!

have you thought of trying a homeopathic remedy, you can find the number of a homeopathic practitioner in the phone book. Chamomile tea at bedtime and reading are my sleep aids, rest easy soon

Try a sleeping aid called Valerian - can be found at Boots - is the one thing that works for me and I don't feel stupid in the morning!
