I need a miracle - is it bad to use homeopathic sleep remedy on toddler?

Hi, please don't think I am a bad mum! For the sanity of my family, childs and parents, and to keep our jobs, I need a miracle. I am not keen on medication, only giving Calpol when urgently needed or other meds when prescribed . My toddler isn't sleeping, we've done the fan (x2), blackout blinds, routine bedtime, EVERYTHING I can think of. He's taking 2 hours to settle in the pm after an 8:30 bedtime. He keeps coming downstairs then when he eventually does sleep, wakes twice a night crying. I'm thinking nightmares? Does anyone know if its safe to use a homeopathic sleep remedy to give him and all of us a decent nights rest? Someone recommended Finnegan or Serenite Jr which you can get from the USA.

I'm sure you aren't a bad mum! I would recommend contacting a local, registered homeopath so that you can be sure you use a remedy which is appropriate for your child. They would be able to make up the remedy for you - there wouldn't be any need to get it from the US

Hi, of course you aren't a bad mum! How does he settle in the first place? Do you stay with him or does he settle himself?

nopt a bad mum!

Yes homeopathic remedies can be used on lilttle ones. But best to get advice from a qualified homeopathic practitioner for advice. Good luck

Hi, he's usually a good sleeper, settling down after his milk and goes off by himself at a regular time before 9pm. This is why the behavoir is so strange and intrusive as he is now coming downstairs up to 30 times and doens't look tired at all! Just wants to play. I lectured his key worker at the nursery and banned him from having more than an hour sleep at a time. They were letting him have 3 hour sleeps during the day, no wonder the little mite couldn't sleep! I will try a registered homeopath though anyway just for future. Thanks for the posts/messages.

Hope your still checking this!
My 15 month old has started to take a while going off too - heat? who knows.
Anyway, we have started to infuse chamomile teabags (just pure) in her milk for her bedtime drink. Basically, i boil the milk and then add the bag and let it sit for 5 mins. She didn't seem to mind the change in flavour. Now i let it sit in the pan while I give her a bath and it's cooled down by the time we get back down.
Did it work? difficult to say. I think at first it did and it only took her half an hour to fall asleep. She also slept through the night again. HOWEVER she has started waking again in the nights!!! .
But you don't know until you try
