Where can I buy a quality child's mattress that isn't the bog standard length?

My mum has offered me a gorgeous old iron bed for my ds who is just at the point of moving up from his cot. Problem is it's a bit of an odd shape and none of the normal kids stores seem to have a mattress to fit. I need a mattress 26" by 54 to 56". Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Kiddicare will make up a mattress to your dimensions. Go to the web-site (kiddicare.com) and then ring the number. It was much cheaper than getting Mothercare to do it.

What's that in metric.... have you tried the internet and some continental shops ? they have different sizes.

Willow2, you might like to try Cotsafe. The number is 01625 501396 and ask to speak to John Webb. I don't know if they do mattresses for beds, but the cot we were given for DD was an unusual size and this was the only place we could find the right size mattress.

We have had a couple of mattresses in unusual sizes made up by "Seventh Heaven" in North Wales. Quite good value and fast delivery.
