7 week old - sleeping a lot, except when I want to sleep!

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for me? I have previously posted about this but maybe in the wrong topic.

My 7wo sleeps a lot, which was starting to concern me and I am going to mention it to GP at our 8 week check. However he is alert when awake, filling lots of wet and dirty nappies and feeding well so I figure all is probably ok?

I am EBF on demand and throughout the day this is about every 3 hours. I between those feeds he generally sleeps. A typical day would look like this:

7 - wake him to feed and change before I get my older child up and get ready for school etc. and he goes back off to sleep while we do school run etc.

9.15 he generally wakes for another feed when we get home from school as I am taking his coat off etc. then sleeps solidly until

12/1 - another change feed and sleeps again until

3 - I tend to wake him for another quick feed before school run if he hasn't woken naturally and goes back to sleep until 5/6

All evening he's a little bit more awake, cluster feeding etc.

I take him up to bed with me at 10/11 but he literally will not settle before 12/1 which is starting to exhaust me as I'm up again at 7.

When he does finally settle he tends to either wake up at 4.30 or sleep through depending what time he dropped off.

These long day sleeps are dotted with small periods of wakefulness where I chat to him and get smiles etc. but in general he is asleep most of the day.

I am wondering if there's a way I can somehow move the 4 hour window at night when he's really awake into the daytime. Is this possible or will it just happen naturally? I've heard keeping them awake in the day more is not a good idea at this age and will not work to encourage night sleep.

Any advice gratefully appreciated. Smile

Sound exactly like my 7 week old dd!

Would also love to move the windows dd1 wakes at 6. No idea how though, sorry!

Do you clearly distinguish btw night and day? As in, lights off, little interaction, keep it boring at feeds and napping changes during the night. Then lights on and noisy house (ie don't put down to nap in darkened room, or anything like that) during day?

Hi city, yes I do that pretty much - though not on purpose. He's downstairs with me in the day and it's all hustle and bustle and I take him up when we go up at 10/11, change his bum, lights out and sleeping bag on, last feed and then I lay him down but he just doesn't seem to settle until 1/2 for some reason. Yawn x
