He is six months.
During the day it can take me over an hour to get him to sleep for a 45 minute nap. And he wakes up instantly if put him in his cot no matter how slowly or gently I do it.
If I'm lucky I can get him to nap twice a day, he doesn't usually have a long nap like he's apparently supposed to though I always try.
His night time sleeping was better for a while, 4-5 hour stint then a feed and 2 wake-ups after that.
He will still go to bed ok between 7:30/8pm which leads me to believe he isn't overtired, and he doesn't seem overly fractious or unhappy during the day, but he's awake every hour with a 2/3 hour sleep in the middle somewhere. Often he is hungry but he's already on 3 meals a day plus milk (followed his lead on food) and don't know what more I can do. He's fine if we're out just naps on and off in his buggy. On the days when he randomly does have a long nap there is no difference at night.
I'm by myself so have nobody to share it with, don't want to do controlled crying but reaching the end of my tether, have lost my temper a few times and had to walk away from him. Obviously don't want that to happen but it's so frustrating. I'm so sick of hearing about how I'm not trying hard enough to get him to sleep, it's not getting him to sleep that's necessarily the problem but keeping him asleep! My mum is convinced that co-sleeping is the problem "because you disturb each other" but I only ended up co-sleeping because I was so exhausted.
I'm trying to teach self settling and have been doing less and less to help him, he has a Ewan dream sheep thing which seems to work sometimes. But if he is waking up hungry I can't stop that.
He wakes up happy as larry in the mornings too. His sleep pattern is basically 8-8-30.
ANY advice or do I just have to wait and see?!
