7 month baby won't sleep alone, first tooth came out this week

I started sleep training my lo using the baby whisperer method. He got to a brilliant stage sleeping through from 8-5 and a quick feed followed by sleep till 7am. Now when I put him to sleep he wakes up after an hour really upset. I try and settle him but by 10.30-11 after trying to settle him for an hour I give up and put him to sleep in my bed. He then wakes around 2 and again at 5ish. Every time I try and settle him in his cot he will not settle where as he did before.

I know he's teething as his first tooth came through this week. I give him calpol and teething powder but he is so unsettled.

I am at a loss what to do. His daytime naps are now half an hour only. He was able to sleep for an hour to hour and a half before.

It took me a good month to sort out his sleep problem. Now I just don't know what to do.

I try to maintain a consistent routine but these last two weeks have been chaos.

Should I stop sleep training?
When do I know when the worst of it is over?
He has also become really clingy Confused
