19 week old too excited to sleep

I have 19 week old baby girl, who does sleep through the night. We have issues trying to settle her for sleep. She has started discovering her feet and also how to roll from back to front. She spends most of the day doing this.

Every time we put her to bed in her grobag, she gets really upset, even with a mobile on in her cot. She begins by kicking about and then starts to cry. The only thing that gets her to sleep is rocking her. I am concerned about getting her into bad habits. I have left her for a few minutes to see if she will soothe herself, but she gets frustrated that she cannot roll over and gets even more upset.

What can I do?

Jaz I feel your pain, no helpful ideas to offer but watching with interest as going through exact same with 24wo DD. She started self settling really well for naps and bedtime at 17wks, but by 21wks she started rolling and the self settling is no more. Now have to rock/hold her with a dummy until she is sound asleep. Like you I'm getting worried this might go on for months. Hoping (know) it's a phase.....

Oh god I hear you. Our 19 week old has never self settled and doesn't fully sleep through yet but is a fairly good sleeper. He used to fall asleep on the breast after his bath but won't now and just cries and cries even when being held and bounced. No idea how to start getting him to go to sleep again.

I really wouldn't worry about bad habits. 19 weeks is still teeny. If it was me j would do whatever works.

Aw thank you. I do feel better that we are not alone with this and she will get over this. I certainly feel better about rocking her to sleep.

I bet if you were a teeny 19 week old baby you'd want cuddled to sleep by your lovely mummy too [smile{

My youngest is 20 months now. Really seems like a toddler not a baby. I know it's a cliche but it passes so so quickly.

Sat cuddling my 10 mo baby back to sleep. It's not every night (thank fuck) but she still sometimes wants a looong reassuring cuddle. I just want my bed (sob).

My little girl is really chilled. I think I always get a bit anxious when she can't sleep, just in case I have missed something. I know she loves cuddles though.....
