Toddler getting up at night but not managing to wake me :(

DS is 2.5. DD is 6 weeks old. Obviously I'm tired. I'm doing all night wakenings. DD is breastFed.

DD was up 3:30-4:30. Somewhere between then and 0615 DS woke up, got out of bed, came through to my room, failed to wake me and went back to bed. I know this as he opened my bedroom door and closed his one. It's not the first time this has happened.

Is there anything I can do? I feel awful :( Poor DS must feel so unloved :(

Or to turn that on its head, your toddler got out of bed in the night was reassured by seeing you in bed asleep, returned to his own bed and went back to sleep.

Unless he spontaneously tells you that he feels unloved (which is easily remedied with a hug) don't make yourself feel guilty for being in the middle of a deep sleep cycle. You need your sleep too.

Flowers it's tough in the early days of sleep deprivation. Don't make yourself feel worse by beating yourself up over perceived upsets.

Make sure you have a supply of your DS's favourite stories next to you when you are b'feeding his sister during the day, and your son will be a happy little boy as he'll still have his mum's attention Smile

Thank you. I just feel terribly guilty. (Goes with the territory I suppose!)
