2.5yo and milk in the night

She is addicted! In the past we have tried to take the bottles away and fabricating exciting stories about her new big girl cup but she just screams screams screams. I know it is bad for her teeth so now it has come to a head. She has woken 3 times for milk tonight (only gave it once!)
Tomorrow I will just put the bottles in the loft so I can't give in.

Any pearls of wisdom? I assume we are going to have hell for a while!

We give ds 2, milk downstairs then hi still gets a dippy cup to take to bed but it has water in.

You could get her to send her bottles to Santa for the new babies? We posted dd dummies and that worked well.

Oh that's a good idea. I def need to do something like that so she knows the bottles are gone.

She drinks water from a sippy cup but as soon as she's in bed she refuses but I can't back down this time. It's so frustrating I should have stuck to my guns months ago but it's so much easier to give in at 4am!!

Just start a new routine, talk tgrough it. We have milk and cuddles, then he says goodnight to everyone and gives them a kiss (all in his sleeping bag) then he turns off tge tv and up we go. He does ocassinally object but soon settles down.

Watching with interest my 2 yo is the same. Sometimes wakes with sodden nappies early next morning so we have been limiting it to a couple of ounces. Just will not sleep through without waking up and shouting for milk.

Are they in a bed yet? When we put our dts in beds at 2.5 we said that they were big boys and girls now so no cot and no bottles.
I regularly talked about this in the day saying that babies have cots and bottles but they don't have them anymore as they are big now.

My DS is a similar age and still has a bottle before bed. We might weaned him by cutting down the amount of milk in the bottles gradually and then when it was down to like 30ml we switched it to water and he stopped wanting it. It took about 6 wks but slower approach works better with him and didn't disrupt us too much. He still doesn't sleep through reliably though Hmm.

I think you are right to put the bottles away and give milk in a cup and then take a drink of water up. My kids still take water up with them and they are almost 5 and 6. Just stay strong as if you go back to milk it makes it harder.
