Just back from holiday and 5 month old baby suddenly won't settle to sleep unless co-sleeping - Help!

DS usually fell asleep really easily at night. Bath, Feed, Sleep. Boom! No problems. Took him on holiday and he was as good as gold. Slept in a different B&B almost every night for 9 nights. Slept in pram at friends' in evening, including sleeping through most of a rather rowdy Italian wedding. Slept in travel cot in our room. All good as gold.

Now he's home, he won't settle in his bed nest and wakes and cries loudly within 10 mins, even if I put him down asleep from a feed. Last night I tried putting his pop up travel cot inside his Bednest and that worked for a couple of hours and then he woke with much crying after a couple of hours. I had to take him into our bed to get a proper night's sleep as I was working today but I know that this is not an ideal solution. It's just like he was when he was a newborn and he wouldn't go in his cot until he was at least 6 weeks old. I can't go back to co-sleeping. It kills my back not being able to move about freely in bed. Does anyone have any ideas on how to deal with the situation? Or similar experiences? Any idea how long it will take him to settle down?

Maybe he has post holiday blues!

Oh, and whilst I'm at it, what should he be sleeping in now it's turned colder? He's been in a 1 tog sleeping bag since using his cot as it was spring/summer and now we've just back from holiday to cooler weather. Should I switch to the 2.5 tog one yet? I've had him in a sleepsuit under his 1 tog with a cotton blanket on top but I don't know if that means he's too cold/hot or what?

Well, last night was a vast improvement. I put him in a new 2.5 tog sleeping bag so I'm wondering if he was just cold. When we left for holiday it was still hot here. I thought that putting a terry sleepsuit would be enough under the 1 tog bag he had been in, with a cotton blanket as it's not that cold in our room, but I noticed that he would wake about 10 mins after being put down sleepy so I wondered if his body temp had dropped enough to make him uncomfortable whilst asleep. Also the fact that he slept fine with us may have been because of our body heat. Fingers crossed this was our solution. He actually slept through, more or less (with a few whimpers) from 9pm - 4.30am!

Could this be something worth considering for you? Good luck! I am still like a zombie today despite last night's success.
