Yikes - mould on travel cot mattress in rental cottage!

Arrived in nice rental cottage and have seen some mould on the mattress of the travel cot they have provided. I've put a fitted sheet over it, and DS (11 weeks) will sleep on his back in a grobag. But the mould is making me concerned. I'm not hugely comfortable with cosleeping, but am weighing it up versus this cot. Advice welcome!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

We have a baby quilt that fits the mattress size quite well, so I've now put that on top of the mattress and under the fitted sheet - so there's a good barrier. Also the mould is at one end, and not the end I'll put DS's head at. Hoping that might be ok...

I would think that would be fine, though take a photo and complain.
The mattress isn't damp is it?
Perhaps you could give it a bit of a clean and an airing in the morning.

sounds like you have done enough for it to be ok for one night. But id definitely take pics and complain in the morning. Not suitable to expect a baby to sleep in a mouldy bed. Ask them to get a new one to you tomorrow.

Do you have a pram with you? Could baby sleep in that?

We do have a pram with us, but it's second hand so am not sure about the quality of its mattress either... Thinking about cosleeping but may try the pram...

Is there any spare bedding in house? Could you fashion a bed from a spare duvet and have it on floor?

That's gross. I think you've done enough tonight but def get onto the agents/landlord in the morning and complain. That's grim.

Well, I got in touch with the owners and they've been really apologetic and are getting something else sorted for tonight. Phew!
