Do you think some babies just don't need that much sleep?

Mine doesnt seem to sleep much and never has done! I get a few comments/judging on this from family/friends who don't think I'm strict enough/have a routine/my own fault for bf so I'd love to know how others have got on.

My PFB is five months and he doesn't go to bed until 10/11pm. He'll wake up 2-5 times at night to feed. He gets up at around 8.30-9am and has 2-3 good naps during the day (20 mins - 1 hr). He feeds to sleep or will go in his pram or the car but I've never put him down to sleepwhilst still awake (technically not true, put him down loads but he's never slept!). I've worked really hard on naps but would love my evenings back as he can be super cranky for hours once or twice a week. He seems to fight sleep so hard at night and just can't self settle at all.

Even as a newborn he was awake loads (4/5 hour stretches) despite slinging him and having quiet time (me locked in dark rooms bored out my tree). I don't mind the night wakings so much but would love him to go to bed at seven and go to sleep!

I'm going through a similar thing with mine. At the moment I'm trying to establish a bedtime routine in fun lighting (bath, massage, feed, sleep) and once that is established hopefully I'm going to try and start waking her up earlier so that she then sleeps earlier. All the best of luck to you Smile

Sorry that was meant to be dimmed lighting.
