no longer want to co sleep - move dd to crib or bed?

We are finally coming to the end of our sleeping as dd2 now sleeps through the night at 14 months.
We are also moving to a new house next week and am thinking about having dd1 (7) and her share a room - and have them sleep together a double mattress on the floor. This is what dd1 wants.
I don't think dd2 is big enough to be in a bed by herself, but she has never gone in a crib before and has always screams when she goes into a play yard. I was given a crib, I just need to buy a mattress, but I wonder if it is worth it.
Can anyone see any other options - or suggestions? Thanks so much!

We went from co-sleeping to a mattress on the floor at about the same age. I think it is very hard to get a child to accept a cot if they haven't slept in one from a young age. The mattress on the floor makes it easy to settle her down and re-settle during the night. She might get up to come and find you though!

That is a good point, I don't think she would willingly go into the cot. And I guess I could use a baby gate on her door. thanks.
