What do you do with your 1 year olds when they wake in the night?

I've gone back to feeding 13 mo DS again, around 4.30-5am. If I don't, he (and I) just have really broken sleep from then till morning (6ish).

Other night wakings, he gets water and a cuddle, which seems fine.

Sleep used to be absolutely dreadful. 2 hourly wakings until he was about 11 months. So this is a big improvement. Concerned he'll start waking more and more for it though.

My 10m old started waking again at about this time. I wasn't 100% confident that she wasn't hungry so I went back to giving her a dream feed before I went to bed. This, for the most part (but not always as you can see by the time) sorted it out and got her sleeping until 6.30 or 7ish.

If she wakes up now, I try to ignore her for a bit to see if she'll Steele, then I go in and give her a cuddle but sometimes I do feed her if she's showing no signs of settling after about 10/15 minutes. This is the only time I'm bf her and its getting pretty infrequent now so I'm not sure how long my milk will last.

Good luck!

Go and remove from bed, plop into bed, latch on, sleep.

Oh signora, sounds lovely. He won't/ can't ever, ever sleep with me. I'd love it if he did!

I ignore if chatting hoping he will nod off again. I crying or after 10mintes of chatter i offer water then leave the room once again hoping he will nod off. After that I give some calpol, leave the room. After that I fetch a pillow and blanket and sleep beside him on the floor.

I pick up if crying, rock gently for a bit until he stops crying and is calm, then pop him down again and replace his dummy and stroke his head. Normally he
Sleeps through so if he does wake its a bad dream or something like that.

go to his room, pick him up from his cot, boob. 9/10 times he and I will be back asleep in 10 mins. Occasionally he'll wake up as soon as I put him down. I try to then pick up and cuddle back to sleep but normally he'll just wake up again when I put him down, so I just feed him again, and that normally knocks him out good and proper. Other times he ONLY wants to sleep on me and its takes forever to settle him. Those times I will either go get DP to have a go, or sit on the loo crying to myself ignoring him for a bit til I get my energy and patience back to start over...!
