10 month old won't settle of an evening

i have a 10 month old baby. She has always been a good sleeper and able to settle of an evening without any fuss but in the last month or so hasn't gone down well. She had colic from week 3 to 14 which is another story but since then has slept pretty well. She eats and drinks well (I breast fed her till 6 months but she is now on formula) and wakes at around 6.30 am and then goes down again at about 8.30 am for an hour or so - then has a lunch nap for an hour and then an early evening one (which I am trying to drop but she is an active little thing and seems to need it) and then milk, dinner, bath, story and bed (I have done this routine since week 4 even through colic which usually ended up in all sorts of scenarios!). I have let her cry it out a few times which breaks my heart but tend to go in and do the shhh thing and then sneak out but she is always straight onto me. When I walk in to re settle she often giggles and thinks its a game (she has started pulling herself up on cot and stands there) but as soon as I walk out she starts screaming and gets herself in a state. She will eventually settle but by 7pm I am ready to clean up mess and have a glass of wine and relax and it just makes the days feel never ending !! She has been teething but the fact she giggles etc when I go in makes me think its not that and maybe separation anxiety and it may pass? I thought about giving up dummy (she only has at sleep time) but someone said its not very nice for them when teething (she has just had bottom two come through and top four are all coming at once now). Any ideas welcome!! thank you !

Hi

I think reduce to 2 naps a day.I know it's so hard when they really need it but after a few days they get used to it.Not sure which one you can drop (maybe the late afternoon one) but you will know better than me.Or maybe it's just the teeth.I see you have suffered with a colicky baby too!...so did I...what a nightmare!!! That put me off having anymore for life!!!
Hopefully very soon you will establish a new routine & she will settle down so you can get some rest ;)

Yup I think you need to drop to 2 naps a day. My 10mo is up at 7ish. Naps for 30-40 mins between 9-10 then has a nap after lunch for an hour usually, 1.30-2.30ish. Then down at 7 with no issues.

What time is the lunchtime nap, maybe push that half an hour later so se can last better later?

thanks. I will try and drop the evening nap. I think that may be the problem. Colic is horrible and it has turned me off too! Morning nap is around 8.30 for a few hours and then 12.30 pm for 1-2 hours. She has had a big evening nap today and done the same thing - so that must be it. Sorry I only saw these messages now. thanks for the advice
