7 month old with no proper sleep routine and waking constantly

I'm at a loss as to what to do with my LO. Since she was born she has been a very poor sleeper and used to wake every 1hr 30 all through the night. She went through a phase where her sleep was OK (only waking once) at around 5 months but lately things just seem to be all over the place.

Some nights she will wake once and need a dummy and then go back to sleep, some nights she will wake and it'll take us 2 hrs to calm her down as she gets more and more angry that we're not getting her up. Then last night I was up 7 times to settle her! It switches and changes like the wind. Some morning she wakes as early as 5am and won't go back to sleep and then others it's 6.45am. This all plays havoc with the next day as her naps seem to constantly change making plans very difficult to make. She usually naps for about 1.30 - 2hrs in the morning although sometimes she wakes early in a shocking mood and won't self settle. Then her afternoon nap is usually 1 - 1.30 hr. Her nap lengths seem to make no difference to her night time sleep though.

We've always had a bedtime routine which we stick to and we've tried changing her bedtimes to see if it helps but it makes no difference.

She is a super hyper little one who gets very frustrated very quickly so every night waking is a drama in her little world and she finds it extremely different to relax and go back to sleep.

Has anyone experienced this and can shed any light? I'm beginning to think I've just got to deal with it and remember it's just a phase and she will eventually sleep through and wake up happy!
