My DD is 4.5 months old, she is EBF and has always been a fairly frequent feeder. In the daytime she feeds about 3 hourly (sometimes 2.5hrly). At night she has her last feed at about 6.45, after her bath, then goes into her cot where she is either asleep straight away or within 15 minutes of chatting/ grumbling. I feed her again at 11.30, unless she has woken herself for a feed before that. She will then wake and have a long feed during the night, usually between 2 and 4am, then go back to sleep. Often she wakes again at 5 and sometimes won't go back down again. Even if she does, she is not at all hungry for milk when she wakes for the day at 6-6.30. Once or twice she has slept through from 11.30 til 6.30.
I'm a bit fed up of feeding her in the night, as she isn't hungry in the morning and I know she can go right through from 11.30. But I don't know how to stop the night feed... Having read about the 'core night' method it seems like that's what I need to do, but she doesn't have a dummy (and I'm not keen to introduce one now) and I'm not all that keen to give her boiled water either- besides which, I'm not sure she'd take it as she's never had a bottle. If I'm honest, I'm a bit scared of trying to drop the feed in case she's just awake for hours in the middle of the night and I end up giving in and feeding her anyway...
Has anyone done the core night thing? Or any other suggestions?
Thanks!
