Can't get to sleep quickly and knackered

For about a week now I've had real trouble going to sleep in the evenings. I've got an 8 wk old baby who wakes at least twice a night and won't be put down in the day so am already knackered. But when I can get in bed, whether DD2 is in the room with me in her cot or downstairs with DH it now takes me over an hour to get to sleep, sometimes longer. It's so frustrating - I need the sleep but when I have the.chance it just doesn't come. Any recommendations for how to sort this out, please?

How is your mood? Might be worth a trip to the GP to get bloods checked also - post partum thyroiditis can cause insomnia.

Thank you. Mood a bit low as fed up with not being able to sleep! But I think I get hungry actually, and also need more of a wind down in the evenings instead if just hopping in and expecting to drop off.

My insomnia is not as bad when I stop doing stuff after6pm.
I also use hypnosis CDs, I have resorted to seeing a hypnotherapist and I have seen improvements after one session.
Go to GP too, iron may be low.

I got an app of wave sounds and have found that really helps. Dd is 6 weeks and I was finding I couldn't get back to sleep after she woke up during the night. The wave music helps. (Wouldn't recommend the fire crackling sounds. I woke up convinced the house was on fire)

I listened to a hypnobirthing cd before my dd was born I found it help after too - I made myself really concentrate on her voice. There's a few free hypnosis Apps by Andrew Johnson - Scottish voice. Also I used to wolf something quick and filling down - peanut butter on toast - your body is recovering and tired so needs lots of fuel. Sweet dreams xx
