How to get a 7 month old to sleep in her cot?

Hi,

DD is 7 months and since she was 10 weeks has been a brilliant sleeper. She would sleep from about 7.30 till 6.30 and would wake up a few times but I would just give her the dummy and she would be straight back to sleep.

The last few weeks we seem to have gone backwards though. Putting her to bed has been varied but now she wants me to hold her hands till she falls asleep. When I'm sure she has fallen asleep she wakes up and we have to start again. This can take an hour. She also wakes up about 10 times a night wanting cuddles or for me to hold her hand (which I do sleeping upside down with my hand through the cot bars. Very uncomfortable!). If I give her the dummy like before she will be awake again in 10 minutes.

But if she sleeps with me she will sleep perfectly till about 8:30.I don't really want her sleeping in my bed all the time as it means my partner has to go to the spare room.

Is this just a phase or am I doing something wrong? She doesn't sleep much during the day so I can't have a nap then and I am exhausted!

Any ideas would be most welcome!

I feel your pain ds became the same at 6-7 mo after being a reasonable sleeper. We gave in to co sleeping by sidecar ing the cot by taking a side off. It means were all together and ds has his own space but often rolls over in the early morning for cuddles. We haven't fed in the night since we did it. Everyone is now getting so much more sleep. We had tried everything and lack of sleep was causing rows. I'm going to watch for other responses though as one day he's going to have to go back!

Thanks! Our bedroom is too small for our bed and the cot to fit that way. I'm thinking I might just have to give in for a while and let her sleep with me till I regain my sanity!
