HAS ANYONE USED THE MILLPOND CLINIC

desperate ds 18 months never slept through wakes 4 -5 times a night. dh had enough. im knackered. saw mill ponds website wondered if it was worth the money.

any help greatfully recieved

I have a friend who used Millpond & she was quite pleased with them. They don't come to your home & sort your baby/toddler out though. First off, you have to keep a sleep diary and then they analyse how to improve the situation.
Its not cheap either.
Have you thought about trying controlled crying? Most people who carry this out have success within 3 or 4 nights. I've done it on both my two & it worked fine. Bit stressful - but its only for a few nights & then you get some blissful sleep!

I am a sleep and behaviour consultant and feel very dubious about the whole telephone consultation thing.

I have steered well away from offering this service as many of my clients have expressed disappointment with similar services.

I think it is better to go for the one to one option and even then an hour seems like very little time to help a family as rarely the 'problem' is one dimentional and often support is needed whilst new techiques are tried out.

Just my opinion - I have been doing a bit of research recently on my competitors as I was considering rethinking offering such a service but changed my mind and decided to stick to my beliefs!

Didn't check out how expensive milbank were though, so maybe there is value for money as one to one can be costly.

Have got the book. Not overly impressed with it. Found it quite simplistic. Lots of stuff about timing of naps and ensuring drink enough milk in teh day to stop night feeding etc. All great in theory but if a) you have a baby who naps when she feels like it, b)a childminder who has other children to look after as well and so cannot devote herself 100% to sorting out your baby's daytime naps and c) a baby that wouldn't take EBM when I was out at work could not see how we could apply it at all.

Would be interested to see how they would deal with those problems though. But too tight to pay.
