DD is 2 1/2 and naps for about 1 hour after lunch most days, though it can be 20min or 2 hours very occasionally. She skips her nap about once a week. Sometimes this is refusing a nap at nursery, sometimes because we are out and busy and sometimes because we are at home and I put her to bed in her room, only to hear her playing in her room for an hour. To get her to nap at home we have to lie with her until she is asleep. She can be quite grumpy if she doesn't nap, more so if she falls asleep in the car for 20min and then is woken up by arriving at our destination.
I am thinking of moving her to a nursery where they prefer that children only attend the afternoons if they don't require a nap and I need her to go for whole days. Any ideas when she might be ready to drop the nap altogether?
