It used to be that we'd be guaranteed 8mo DS would sleep from 7pm - 12 (he has a dream feed at 10) - what he did after that, mind, was never so clear.
For the past 8 weeks, he's been so unsettled during the pre dream feed period. He's sometimes woken once, many times twice, mostly three or four times, occasionally every half an hour. (When he was 5 months he had this tummy upset- he'd only just started sleeping through and then got this diahroea which lasted a month and knocked him. I've always blamed that for everythig that came after.)
We can't really work out what's bothering him. There are nights like last night where he just sleeps right on through without us doing anything different. This happens once in a fortnight perhaps.
He's been diagnosed with silent reflux - I'm still not 100% sure of this diagnosis - but since starting the meds he has been better, just not completely better. Maybe it will all get better once we work out hte meds.... it might be that's all there is to it. It just seems really weird because why would he be fine on some nights and not on others?
He is teething but we're sending him to bed with a massive dose of pain killers when he's bad (and I also know his pain cry, and it's not that that's waking him up).
His wake ups mainly match sleep cycles of 45 mins. Which suggests to me that it's not pain or discomfort that's causing the wakes.
We've tried leaving him for a bit - very very occasionally he will settle back down within 7 minutes or so (you can tell from the cries that he'll do this). But if we try and leave him when he's not like this he just gets more worked up adn harder to settle later.
Is there anything we can do to stop him doing this - I'd like to be able to go to bed at 8 without being woken up 10 minutes after dozing off! I need to get my sleep in - it's been months now without very much and I'm starting to lose it.
