Can my 2.5 year old sense the new baby is imminent and is THAT why he is waking early??

Our 2.5 year old climbs out of his bed and comes to us in the middle of the night (4.30-5.30am), which I wouldn't mind except he doesn't sleep. I am thinking of doing the 'putting him back to bed' without a word once I've explained that he needs to be in his own bed, but I hear some people need to do this up to 100 times (!) and I don't know if I have the emotional strength! I am 38 weeks pregnant and wonder if after we've got him to sleep in his own bed again, that we might just have to go through the whole thing again...except with a newborn in the equation. Any ideas/tips?

Hi there I had the same problem with my ds who was the same age. I was pg with twins so was enormous and couldn't be bothered to move let alone carry a toddler. I let him come in for cuddles I got a feeling he sensed that babies where near. When the babies were born he stopped coming in and when he did he would curl up at the end of the bed. Not very often though. I did buy a gro clock though as the wails of twins would sometimes wake ds and he would assume it was morning which technically yes 3am is the morning but not when you need 3children awake in. I wouldn't worry enjoy every second with your 2.5 and I'm sure it'll be fine.

I am watching this, we are going through a lot of waking with dd (2) at thr moment. I'm 37weeks. Dd is still in the cot though so just shouts rather than coming into us.

Yes they do sense it. I was co sleeping with my dd (21mths) but as I got to 39 wks she started sleeping on my head!
