Teaching a baby night from day

Ds, 6 weeks, currently sleeping all day and up all evening. Nights are ok ish. How do I persuade him he has night and day mixed up?

(by all day I mean he wakes from the night at 7am. Back to sleep at 10am. Sleeps until. 1pm. Awake until 3. Sleeps 3-5. Awake 5-7. Sleeps 7-8. Awake until 11. That's roughly what he's
done for past few days anyway)

Or is that normal? I can't remember how long newborns sleep for and when it starts to change even though this is number 2.

Sounds completely normal to me!

Yeah once written down I realised he's had nice alert periods between sleeps. I think the 3 hour one from 10-1 just throws me because dd never slept so long.

Sounds pretty normal to me too! But with my DS (17 wks) I took him out for plenty of walks for sunlight in the day and turned the radio on, opened the curtains as soon as I got up... As soon as evening came, dimmed the lights, shut the curtains, turned the radio to low and had a very loose evening routine from early on (bath/massage or massage, change of sleepsuit, night nappy (we use cloth), story, feed in bed) and it seems to have helped as he's generally great now at sleep and getting his day/night the right way around .... Or I may have just got lucky! Wink
