Wake to sleep? Can I ask a few questions?

Anyone had success with wake to sleep?

DS is 2.3mo and has started waking at 4.45-5.15am. We have tried a gro-clock, shouting, pleading and various other methods. It was simple to resettle him at 3.30am; he was clearly tired so would resettle; but at the early morning time, he's just awake enough to really want up.

Now, as I understand wake to sleep, you rouse them so they resettle and sleep; it then breaks their sleep pattern after a few days of pain for me!

But... how much do you rouse them? Until they open their eyes? Until they roll over?

I've just started this and mostly it's worked but we are also teething.

I do it so that either he moves or you can hear in their breathing they've been disturbed

Okay so just enough for DS to mutter and roll then.

I'll have to be quite careful as DS can go from asleep to awake in nanoseconds!

I'd love to hear how this works for you CarpeJugulum, we have exactly the same problem. DS is also 2.3 and consistently wakes between 5 and 5.30. He has always been an early waker but it's getting a bit much. Might try wake to sleep - what time do you do it?

Don't know - tonight will be the first night (he's at nursery tomorrow so I can go back to bed Wink )

I'm going to set my alarm for about 4am I think - that means I can get another few hours sleep after.

He used to wake at 6am - which was fine as that's when we need to get up for work; I'd even take 5.45! It's just the extra 1/2-1 hour that's the killer - I was in bed by 9.30 last night Blush

Yes just enough so he starts a new sleep cycle. Just an idea but if he still has a daytime nap you could try gardually reducing as that may be contributing to the early waking.
