6 week old struggling to lay on back at night

Hi all,

I have a lovely 6 week old baby boy who struggles fo sleep on his back at night. During the day he will sleep in his basket or bouncer without a problem. We take him to bed at about 9ish and he will usually sleep until his first night feed (feeds every 3hours like clockwork day and night) however, after his first night feed he really struggles to lay on his back. He sounds very congested and seems to grunt a fair bit. Almost like he is clearing his throat. He can't settle, when normally he settles really well. Even Ewan the magical sheep doesn't help. This only lasts until morning so not sure if something in the bedroom could be causing it, if it is reflux, wind or something else.

Incase it is reflux, I feed him upright (he is ff) , wind gently and keep upright before he goes back to sleep. The head of the cot is also raised.

Does anybody have any idea what the issue could be as he is ending up sleeping on me from midnight evertr night which really isn't ideal...

My DD was very mucusy (sorry know that's not a word) in the early weeks and she sounded snuffly all the time and would sort of retch/gag like she was trying to clear her throat. Tilting the head end of her crib up helped but generally it was just one of those things she had to grow out of. However it could be silent reflux but maybe your best getting him checked out by a GP or HV to be on the safe side. If it is reflux sounds like you're doing all the right things. I think alot of babies are snuffly gurgly for a long time getting used to breathing our polluted air Grin But yeah, get him checked out it'll put your mind at ease if nothing else Smile
