8mo DD screams as soon as I take her near her cot - normal?

DD, 8mo at the end of the week, has taken to screaming the moment I stand over her cot with her in my arms. Obviously this makes naps difficult! She'll sleep reasonably well in my bed with me beside her but it's unsafe for me to leave her there. And I have things to do.

It's very sudden - only last week she'd lie there and sing - so is it developmental? She does get cross if I leave the room now. But I need her to nap in her cot and she needs to nap - any ideas or is it a case of this too shall pass? She's taken to only falling asleep if she's on someone, which is an improvement over only falling asleep on the boob but I'm very concerned that she's swapped one sleep prop for another which isn't any better.

I have the same issue with dd, 12mo.I've started rocking her to sleep, popping her in the cot and then sitting by the cot, reading a magazine etc as she naps. She no longer cries when she wakes as knows I'm there. My next stage is to put her in the cot less asleep and gradually I'll sit further away each day until I'm outside the room. I believe it can take some time to do this, a few weeks perhaps. It's probably a phase, dd has done this after illness and the unsettledness of Christmas...

Oh yes, same problem here. DH has to settle her unless she is really tired. DD (9m) screams, kicks, scratches etc. It's a nightmare.

Don't know about normal but yes, i have it too. Have had it for a few months now.

Have made some progress by letting her play in her cot awake outside nap times.

Now she only starts screaming when i put her in her sleeping bag as this means it is sleep time.

Does that actually count as progress or am i kidding myself? Confused

Having the same problems with 9 month old DS. I think it is developmental.

He started screaming his head off about a month ago in the got & now with all sleep related things. I've had to abandon his bedtime story & song, he cries getting in to the grow bag. It's awful.

I've gone back to cuddling him to sleep now & it's helping. V weird.
