surely its better to bf baby to sleep and have them sleep till 4am than to take them off and have dc wake up every 2 hours

I know that if you feed DC to sleep and allow them to stay on the breast once they are, it can cause sleep association between bf and going to asleep. But I've been trying to put DD (6mo) to bed before she falls asleep and because she's still hungry she either refuses to sleep or just wakes up again. Last night was the worst, I was back and fourth with her all night, I can bearly function.

is anyone else feeding DC to sleep just so they can get some sleep themselves?

lets take a poll...
would you?...
a) feed dc to sleep and allow them to continue feeding until they let go (risking sleep association) and have them sleep till 4am
OR
b) take them off the breast before they're fully asleep and have them wake up every 2 hours ALL NIGHT LONG

a) definitely but then I was blessed with DS being a pretty good sleeper from 4MO onwards so it's very easy for me to say IYSWIM.

Frankly ur damned either way. For those that one of those solutions works for they will wax lyrical about it until ur ears bleed about how u should do it and why u definately shouldn't do something else.

In my experience of one dd u just go for the path of least bumps as best u can. U might do a) one week and b) next. Pretty much I tried all and then dd turned one and I discovered that all that was needed was her to grow up a bit. She's improved consistently since this far... All about to go downhill as dd2 due this month.

And ill be here screaming for help and hand holding. Flipping tough sometimes isn't it? Then they smile and ur heart melts.....

I always fed both of mine to sleep and they were and still are amazing sleepers! Didn't cause us any problems.

Still feeding to sleep at 20 months. Do whatever is easiest and works for you.

I have always fed my babies to sleep. Hasn't caused any long term issues at all. Can't see the problem myself - I think it's just another anti-bf myth.

I hear you LaCiccolina. I'm considering making a video diary to remind myself exactly what this was like in case I forget.

DH is already starting to talk about number 2, I'm like "are you insane?! I'm getting my butt whupped here!"

I do a mixture of (a) and (b), feed her to sleep and then have her wake up every 2 hours to feed a little bit more.

It's all fun here!
