dd is 12mo. On early side for 1 nap I know.

Routine up to 9mo was - wake 6.30ish, nap 9.45-11.00, nap 2-3.00/3.30, bed 6.45 or 7 (sometimes slept through other times didn't)

Routine started to get to - 6.30/7- wake, 10.00-11 (I would wake if not awake by then) 3.00/3.30-4.00/15( I would always wake by then).

I felt I was always having to wake her to preserve next nap or night sleep. She was taking between 30mins to 1hr to settle for every pm nap, then about 20-40mins at bedtime.

I decided to try for 1 nap at noon after early lunch. Was great four 4 days!
Routine was - 7.30- wake, 12.00-2.00 (or 12.30-2.30) nap, 6.30-45pm - bed for night slept through til 7.30 next morning.

However last 2 days she has been waking earlier in the morning. Yesterday 6ish, Today she was restless, wakful from 5am!

Should I go back to 2 naps, alternate 1 and 2 naps or stick to 1 for a bit longer and hope dd adjusts?

What did you do?

At 12 months, I would still give her the morning nap when she is tired, but cut it right down to 15/30 mins. Then give her a long nap after lunch, eg 1-3.

If she has started waking earlier, that's possibly a sign that she is a little overtired on one nap?

Thanks brain. What time would you give the morning nap? I just worry that I will hardly be able to leave the house still as she just won't nap in pushchair.

Think I will give her a nap at 9.30 today and just let he sleep til she wakes then give her another nap about 3 hours later to try and get her ovee the OT. Then maybe I'll try something like you suggested. Altho how I will ever make plans to do anything worried me a bit.

Also she only seems to sleep anywhere like 2hours if she's been awake for at least 4 hours after any amount of sleep!

If she's up at 6.45/7, then I think 9.30 is about the right time. I can only speak from what worked for me, and they are all so different (otherwise there wouldn't be so many books on it!).

I think (and its a while ago) we did get up at 7am (hollow laugh, often way before), nap 9.30-10 then next nap 12.30-2.30 or 1-3, then bed at 7. If your DD doesn't need as much sleep, then maybe just make the morning nap really short ie 15/20 mins, so she still has a good sleep after lunch.

But if you are trying different 'routines', then you need to stick with it for a week to see. Then try something else for a week, etc. And then by then they've changed and something different again works Smile
