DD was always a terrible sleeper but from 8-10months it got worse and worse until she was waking at least once an hour in the night. Tried everything except CC/CIO and then suddenly overnight she started sleeping through for 11/12 hours and that continued from 10-13 months.

At night I bf her and then DH takes over and puts her down to sleep, sometimes we can get away with her being drowsy but awake but she usually has to be rocked to sleep before we can put her down. However, all of a sudden she's started refusing to go to sleep for hours and hours. We've tried the usual rocking, lullaby, bfing her again, giving calpol, leaving to cry for a few minutes then going in again, lying down next to the cot etc.

She's just starting to walk so I'm wondering if its a developmental leap that causing this but is there anything I can do or do we just roll with it and hope it passes like it did before? I'm back at work soon so dreading spending every evening with a crying baby :(

This sounds similar to my ds he's 12 months. He has been a pretty bad sleeper from birth but started sleeping 8 hour stretches from about 6 to 9 months when his sleep went really downhill. Waking hourly being impossible to settle back to sleep for hours in the middle of the night, etc. we have been co sleeping since about 10 months out of desperation. But we are trying to sort his sleep out now.

We have been having some success with pu/pd although it is more just putting down after they stand up I think at this age. This has been working well and after a few days he goes down on his own in the cot within about 5 mins. He has also been sleeping longer stretches last night he did 6 hours straight. We are still struggling with at least one wake up at night where he still takes at least a couple of hours to settle but am hoping this will improve.

13 month sleep regression

It will pass!! Try a slightly earlier bedtime as the walking makes them tired.

I have no answers but this is happening with us too right now! Getting dd (14 months) to go to sleep in the evening is absolutely awful. I feel your pain!

I didn't know there was a 13month sleep regression - argh! I stupidly thought now she was sleeping 11 hours she wouldn't go back to her old ways. My DS was also a terrible sleeper until 8 months when he started sleeping 12 hours a night and has done ever since, bar the odd night of teething.

I put her down half an hour earlier last night and she only woke up once in the night, took 30mins to settle and has only just woken up. I am hoping this has cracked it!

Thanks for replies!
