19mnth intro to big boy bed shud I do sears or Hoggs method?

Sears method is very similar to pantleys. Hoggs is pick up, put dwn. Don't want to traumatise him. Would love it to be a enjoyable experience and I don't want him to feel rejected. His younger brother who's 4.5 months sleep in part way thru the night in his crib and part way thru the night in our bed. He may feel that we favour his younger brother. How did you go about introducing the bed?

Well what I've been doing is putting him to sleep in my room I.e. rocking him to sleep, he doesn't lay down himself and go sleep himself. Once his asleep i put him in his bed. Fourth day and he's been sleeping through the night till about 7. Used to co sleeping and would wake up several times normally.

But once he's woken up he expects to be rocked back to sleep, n like on the third night he would not sleep in his room. I need to establish how to get him to lay down himself n go to sleep himself. And understand that baby is not getting all the attention. The baby currently has reflux and colic so he screams.

I'm rocking dc1 putting him dwn, feeding dc2, putting him dwn, go back to rocking dc1, then finally having them both on each leg while I rock 1 and breast feed and rock the other. In all it takes about an hour and a half to two hours to put to bed. By then it's 10:30 or 11.

We did have a strict bedtime routine but since baby and house move everything has gone mad.

Any ideas or do you know anyone who can help

Does he have to move out of cot yet? It's a little young if he isn't a good settled sleeper. I would leave another year, then he will be old enough that you can just explain

We have recently moved ds( 17/18m old) out of his cot as he was getting so tall we feared he would fall out. He now has a mattress on the floor and a run of pillows down the outside edge to stop him rolling out too easily. He can climb out and does, and since moving him out we have had some really good nights and some quite frustrating ones, not sure i can offer any solutions, but will watch with interest.x

We just put him in a bed one night, after he'd started climbing out of his cot. He was 19 months. We put the cot mattress on the floor next to the bed. He slept straight through and never fell out.
