Tell me not to get my hopes up...!

Ok, so my DS lost the ability to self settle at around about 8 months. We hit the regression and since then his sleep has been awful. I have had to rock him to sleep for naps and bedtime since then and he is now 11 months. Anyway, last night I thought I would give gradual withdrawal a go. He had his feed and was still wide awake. I turned out the light which is the main sleep cue for him. I put his in his cot and stayed with him, expecting him to get up, but he just rolled over and went straight to sleep. I was like this Shock

He only woke once in the night and went back off easily after a quick feed. This was amazing as we have had a month of him waking up twice in the night and just not going back to sleep for hours.

This morning, I thought I would be brave and try the same thing with nap time. He did exactly the same thing - light off, in cot, rolled over and went to sleep. What is going on??? It won't always be this easy, will it?

will keep my fingers crossed for you. Ds1 never seemed to self settle until he was over a year, ds2 managed much earlier 7or 8 months i think. I thought he was ill i didn't know babies could do that. Shock.

I keep thinking he might be sickening for something!! Will just continue with the plan and hope that tonight is the same. Would be so lovely if he was sleeping better in time for Christmas, I might be able to function on Christmas Day!

Good luck! In the midst if hideous regression here so you give me hope.

Well, he has just settled himself again for his afternoon nap, albeit after twenty minutes of whacking his bunny against the side of the cot. It feels totally bizarre but maybe, just maybe, he is ready to put himself to sleep again.
