Forgotten how to thumb suck- anyone had luck with sleep training during 9 month regression?

DD's (9 months) sleep has gone to absolute shit over the last 10 days. At first I think there was some illness/ teething and now I just think she's totally forgotten how to self sooth. Mainly because she appears to have forgotten how to suck her thumb, which was her thing before. She is so tired and lots of the other methods of soothing her don't really seem to work, so I'm reluctantly wondering about something like CC. But don't know if I'm setting myself up for a fall doing this now?

Anyone had success about this age? I'm just devastated that the thumb is now gone. She just fiddles in her mouth, which keeps her awake instead..
