My son is 14 months. He woke once an hour for bf for the first 12 months of his life. After becoming most upset with sleep deprivation and constant breastfeeding I listened to my husband and let him cry it out, on the proviso that I wouldn't let
him scream.

Night one, he cried a bit. He slept more than normal. By night two he was sleeping 7-7. I was delirious. I also cut down from 12+ feeds a day to 2. Wow. I felt human again. He even continued this through illness (dihorreah sp? and a few viruses.)

6 weeks later he had a weird night where he screamed all night long. We brought him to bed and he was up all night. He has been since, for a week now we've had crap nights.

Should I start again with cio? Should I try something else? Should I comfort/bf him? Or be hard, and ignore it? Do you think there might be something wrong with him (unwell, teeth?) I'm going back to work next week. This is such bad timing.

Also, please don't be mean about my use of cio. I truly said I'd never do it, but felt so extremely low, and was not coping without sleep.

Maybe get him checked out at the doctor to clear him of anything which may be medically interfering with his sleep? Once that's done, and doc says he's OK, resume your sleep training method of choice. You know best what is needed and what will work best. Hope you get things sorted before next week. x
